Let me introduce you to Lucy and Shawn, a couple who met their freshman year of high school and immediately became each other’s first loves. Eventually the two did grow apart and went their separate ways. But, in 2022 they reconnected and realized that all the sparks were still there! When Shawn proposed to Lucy at Duke Gardens, it was a beautifully magical moment, perfectly captured by Lucy’s son, who played photographer for the occasion.

Planning For Their Dorothea Dix Park Engagement Session

Being in the Raleigh area, we are spoiled with so many great location options. As I chatted back and forth with Lucy to plan their engagement session, she landed on Dorothea Dix Park with a plan to create a fun and romantic picnic themed session.

From the moment Lucy and Shawn arrived, it was evident that their connection was something truly special and absolutely effortless. The couple enjoyed the sweetest little picnic together complete with grapes, cheese, and bread. Most of the images we captured were truly candid, which I loved. As fate would have it, we stumbled upon a beautiful surprise in the middle of the park: a heart made completely out of flowers. We couldn’t resist taking advantage of it to capture a few shots.
