I have been so excited to share today’s blog because it is the first in a series of Raleigh engagement photo sessions that I will be sharing for the 2023 season. This sweet couple chose a location that was especially meaningful to them, Umstead State Park, and I am so excited to share not only some of their beautiful images, but also some of my favorite moments from our time together.

Baden proposed to Crystal in New York City over the 2022 Christmas holiday. Talk about an epic proposal! As each of them told me the story of their engagement, one of my favorite things that Crystal shared with me was how meaningful it was that Baden planned for their family and friends to be there as well so they could all celebrate together with a party after. I love to hear stories about when families are in on the big surprise and Crystal and Baden’s proposal was no exception.

Fast forward to deciding on a location for their engagement photos. This sweet couple knew that they wanted to take the photos in a location that represented them and some of the things they love to do together (I am so here for that!). Ultimately, they decided on the location where they had their very first date: Umstead State Park.

The Umstead State Park was the perfect backdrop of their engagement photos not only because there was a variety of locations and backdrops to choose from, but it represented so beautifully a special moment in their relationship and their love for a passion they share together: being outdoors and hiking. We joked about how I am not a hiker (confessions from a photographer!) but I did so enjoy getting a glimpse into their world and appreciation for being outdoors (which I love).

Crystal & Baden – I cannot wait to capture your wedding this fall! Thank you for allowing me the privilege of documenting this season of your story together. Crystal – you have the best laugh and smile, and Baden you are the ultimate pro at getting those out of her. Counting down the days until your big day!
